This is my favorite photo of the harbor area. It’s annotated to highlight what’s of interest for the exhibit. The date of this photo is no earlier than 1946 since the 1946 Annual Town Report mentions general improvements in 1946 included leveling the Seal Shipt lot (2), razing the old Sail loft (1) and bath houses and clearing the land. These improvements seem well established in the photo (i.e. no evidence of recent clearing), so it is likely well after 1946. The L-pier was constructed during 1952 (completed December 1952), and there is no evidence of construction, or preparation for construction, so this photo was taken before 1952.
